I was at mom and dads house and found a dead crawdad randomly on the floor in the house. Given they live in the mountains not near water I SHOULD have thought it was weird. It almost looked like a big orange bug but I decided it was a crawdad. It never dawned on me in the dream that crawdads are brown until cooked, like lobster. Then I went into another room and there was another one (yes, orange) on back of a sofa chair. I’m this one was still alive, but barely. It was struggling to breathe. Again, why did I think this was legit since they have gills.
I take it outside thinking there must be an infestation coming from somewhere. Writing this now I’m like my god – really? A crawdad infestation where they get into houses and crawl around? Well, then I see that Dad has dug a massive hole immediately next to the house. Like there is a sidewalk next to the house, then there is the hole and I was worried the sidewalk would give way.
I looked down into it and there was the most massive pickup I’ve ever seen, like the size of a huge excavator. And it had a big arm coming from the back like a crane with a shovel on the end to dig with. I thought nothing of it – figured he just rented it at Home Depot. I asked what else he was doing and he told me building a pond. I looked further out and saw he had been excavating quite a bit. There was an area I knew in the dream (this house was nothing at all like their real house) that had a small hill and that was gone now. I looked back in the hole and the pickup thing was gone and now it was filled with water.
I looked closer and saw a whole bunch of crawdads swimming around. All bright orange. I realized I was still holding mine, so I let it go into the pond. I felt happy I saved it. I thought since there was now a pond here, the crawdads just naturally started to show up. I hoped they wouldn’t keep getting into the house though. And that was that.
